Abstract

Green synthesis of calcium oxide nanoparticles (CaO-NPs) attracted the focus of many due to the usage of environmentally friendly materials and became the most precedent method for performing synthesizing processes since it requires pollution-free chemicals and non-toxic solvents. The objective of this work was to synthesize CaO-NPs through a green procedure by the application of Linum usitatissimum (LU) seed extract. We characterized synthesized CaO-NPs by the utilization of TGA-DTG, FTIR, XRD, UV–Vis, and FESEM/PSA/EDAX techniques and also investigated their cytotoxicity and photocatalytic activities. According to the gathered data, CaO-NPs caused an unnoticeable effect on the annihilation of cancer cells at the desired concentrations and duration of exposure. Additionally, the potential of synthesized nanoparticles as photocatalysts for the degradation of the organic dyes of wastewater was discovered as well.
