Ms. Lovato became too ill to provide written permission due to her health condition. The manuscript could not be published for one year following Ms. Lovato’s passing in February 2008 to demonstrate respect and honor for Ms. Lovato’s pioneering work in cancer support throughout Indian Country and then delayed another year due to another death in her family. This article is in honor of Mary and her tireless efforts to help Native American and other cancer survivors.
