Abstract
In the present work the annealed mild steel was processed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) at different temperatures of 200, 250, 300 and 350 °C. The mild steel of 60 mm height and 12 mm diameter was ECAPed for two passes through 120° die channel and 20° corner angle. The microstructure was observed through an optical microscope, the fractions of ferrite, pearlite and grain size measurement were carried out. Mechanical testing such as Vickers hardness and tensile test were conducted for ECAPed samples and the properties were compared with base metal. Inter-critical annealing was carried out to get the better combination of strength and ductility.
