Abstract

In this paper, beam splitters are designed by using defect layered 1D Quaternary photonic crystals (QPCs). These beam splitters can split light beam of any wavelength into two beams having 50% of input optical power or intensity. The 50% of input light power of the splitted wavelength will be transmitted by the structure and 50% of input light power will be reflected by the structure. The reflected and transmitted light beams will be available at the input and output ports respectively. The light wavelength to be split by these beam splitters can be chosen by changing the structural parameters.
