20 jaar Neuropraxis: nieuwe ontwikkelingen in ‘dwang en hersenen’

Samenvatting

Obsessief-compulsieve stoornissen (OCD’s), zoals beschreven in ons artikel in het allereerste nummer van Neuropraxis in 1997, staan nog steeds in het middelpunt van de belangstelling. In de laatste twee decennia is er veel onderzoek gedaan naar een scala van aspecten van de OCD; we weten veel meer over betrokken hersenmechanismen, farmacologische en psychologische behandelingen, risicofactoren en erfelijkheid dan twee decennia geleden, maar moeten helaas concluderen dat we nog weinig begrijpen van oorzaken van OCD’s en nog heel ver weg zijn van ‘genezen’. Twintig jaar is toch een relatief korte tijdspanne, ondanks de hoge vlucht die kennis en technologische benaderingen in deze periode hebben genomen binnen de neuro- en gedragswetenschappen.
