Zusammenfassung

Das Schlusskapitel führt die Ergebnisse zusammen und erläutert sowohl die Konzeptualisierung von Revisionismus als auch einen Vergleich der Fälle. Die unabhängige Variable Status war in den Fällen Deutsches Kaiserreich, Weimarer Republik und Japan die Triebfeder der revisionistischen Politik. Dagegen war im Fall der USA der laterale Druck ausschlaggebend für eine dissidente Politik. Weiterhin wirft das Kapitel einen Blick auf die aktuellen Aufsteiger in der Weltpolitik und erläutert Handlungsanweisungen für den Umgang mit revisionistischen Akteuren.

Abstract

The concluding chapter presents an overview of our findings, including the conceptualization of revisionism as well as a comparison of our cases. The independent variable status explains best the revisionism of the German Empire, the Weimar Republic and Japan. In contrast to that, the dissident foreign policy of the US before World War I was chiefly driven by lateral pressure. The chapter also focuses on the contemporary rising powers China, India and Russia and provides instructions how to deal with revisionist rising powers.

  3. Diese Argumentation schließt an die oben diskutierte Problematik der Ordnung an. Wenn nicht alle Staaten dieselbe Ordnung akzeptieren, können auch nicht alle Staaten gleichwertig mit dem Schema analysiert werden, hier bedarf es einer tieferen Analyse des Kontexts.
