Abstract
In an ecological procedure fountain pen nibs are polished in a bed of walnut-shell granulates. However, residues of polishing paste and nuts remain in the ink feeder groove; a manual post processing is required. Therefore an expensively cleaning procedure was developed. For this purpose, the effectivity of different enzymes in clearing residues, as well as pure and in a mixed solution, were examined. A lipase in combination with a surfactant and an ultrasonic bath showed very good results in the solvation of polish residuals.
