Abstract
With the implementation of the New Curriculum, conflicts between new and old ideas are bound to arise. Voices supporting and protesting the reform will accompany the whole process. We have to expound our idea that quality education is an established policy that cannot be reverted, that curriculum reform must be carried out, and that any attempt to return to old curriculums may end in failure. The present paper explores the challenges to the basic curriculum reform and the relevant strategies through the analysis of educational phenomena of mainland China in recent years.
