Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-/Hyperaktivitätsstörung im Erwachsenenalter

Summary:

This article provides a short overview on symptomatology, etiology, prevalence, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, comorbidities and therapy of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder in adults. In the German-speaking psychiatry the disorder has been introduced for the first time 10 years ago. An early diagnosis and an adequate individualized therapy – preferentially with medication and psychotherapy – are important not only for the often severely impaired adult patients, but also with regard to sociooeconomic aspects.
