Binary Encoding Method in Studying Melting Enthalpy of Ice and Ice-Containing Liquids

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

The paper presents the binary encoding method for studying the processes in closed domains formed by clusterized structures. Stochasticity of processes observed in the clusters of the ice-water system during the phase transition, does not allow to accurately measure the specific heat of melting of ice-containing liquids. There are no currently techniques verifying the spread of resulting values concerning the enthalpy of melting of ice-containing liquids. Converting data array obtained in a series of experiments to binary string, allows analyzing changes in the enthalpy of melting via a comparison of finite numbers in each series. The obtained list of numbers clearly shows the presence or absence of coincidences between finite numbers of the data arrays. A program developed in the Python programming language is used to implement this method, which is a cross-platform application with the intuitive interface.
