Carbon phases from sp 2 hybridized atoms with three-dimensional rigidly bound structure

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

Methods of molecular mechanics are used to calculate cluster structures of new carbon phases of 3D graphite. It is established that 3D graphite polytypes differ by the structure of layers and order of their alternation, consist of sp 2 hybridized atoms, and have hexagonal unit cells. New carbon phases can be synthesized by polymerization and carbonization of hydrocarbon molecules.
