Homocondensation of acetylferrocene under ultrasonic conditions

Abstract

The cyclocondensation of 1-acetylferrocene was studied in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid under ultrasonic conditions at 80 °C. The reaction was found to produce ethyl ferrocenoate along with 1,3,5-triferrocenylbenzene and 1,3-diferrocenylbenzene. The structure of ethyl ferrocenoate was studied by NMR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction.
