Abstract
The influence exerted by the thickness of a gel layer on the difference of the electric potentials of phases and on the distribution of the potential near the phase boundary are considered in terms of the classical theory of the Donnan equilibrium in a two-phase system constituted by a gel and an electrolyte solution. The results obtained make it possible to explain a number of experimental facts.
