Features of Ablation and Modification of Al2O3–TiC Ceramic Surface Structure During Two-Coordinate Pulsed Laser Treatment

  • Published:
Refractories and Industrial Ceramics Aims and scope

The main features of the influence of two-coordinate pulsed laser treatment parameters on processes of ablation and structural modification of Al2O3–TiC ceramics are established. The ambiguous influence of laser treatment parameter regime on the intensity of the ablation process is revealed. It is shown that the nature of structural modification is determined by parallel processes of fragmentation, melting and fusion of original ceramic grains and a defective surface layer with the formation of new elements. The influence of laser treatment parameters regime on nature of structural modification is manifested in the size and number of newly formed surface structural elements.
