Abstract

To meet the capacity requirements of modern communication systems, a huge amount of data must be carried over a single fiber using different wavelengths propagation with small wavelength spacing between them. The fiber nonlinear effect, however, limits the performance of modern long-haul communication systems. Cross Phase Modulation (XPM) is a performance-limiting phenomenon in wavelength division multiplexed radio over fiber systems. In this paper, we used the Coupled equation to analyze and investigate XPM induced crosstalk in the V band (40–75 GHz) and W band (75–110 GHz) under the influence of higher-order dispersion and for the wavelength channel spacing from 0.2 to 0.8 nm. It is observed from the results that the impact of XPM crosstalk rises exponentially with the increase in input frequency and fiber length and decreases with the increase in value of channel spacing.
