Experimental Study on FRP-Reinforced PP ECC Beams Under Reverse Cyclic Loading

  • Published:
Mechanics of Composite Materials Aims and scope

When a structure is hit by an earthquake, a tremendous amount of seismic energy is released, and the structure is subjected to reverse loadings. The mechanical properties of FRP-reinforced PP ECC beams and coupon RC beams under displacement-controlled reverse cyclic loadings are investigated. The curing time, reinforcement ratio, and volume fraction of PP fibers are the parameters considered. It was found that multiple saturated cracking arised in the PP ECC beams, but no crushing followed. PP ECCs can enhance the strength and energy dissipation capacity of beams, which is important in evaluating the performance of structures subjected to reverse cyclic loadings.
