Study on the mechanical behavior of PEI composites reinforced with short carbon fibers and TiO2 particles

  • Published:
Mechanics of Composite Materials Aims and scope

The effect of TiO2 dispersion on the tensile, flexural, and impact properties of carbon-fiber-reinforced PEI matrix composites (CF/PEI) was investigated. Increasing the TiO2 content in the CF/PEI composite from 1 to 3 wt.% raised its tensile and flexural strengths and moduli, whereupon these characteristics declined. The impact strength was optimum at 3 wt.% TiO2.
