Lowering of the Metal Consumption of Rollers and Operating Costs of Through-Type Furnaces of Rolling Mills

  • Published:
Metallurgist Aims and scope

We present the analysis of the designs of furnace rollers for various temperatures of the furnace and the main defects acquired in the process of operation. As the main cause of replacements of the rollers, we can mention their inadmissible residual deflections. On the basis of the comparative analysis of the strength of furnace rollers, it is shown that the conventional yield strength at the operating temperature plays the role of strength criterion for the material of their barrels. It is shown that the application of uncooled furnace rollers made of heat-resistant steels enables us to decrease metal consumption and reduce operating costs.
