Electric-Spark Mechanical Method for the Preparation of Steel Surfaces by Galvanized Brushes

  • Published:
Materials Science Aims and scope

We study the influence of electric-spark machining of steel by rotating disk brushes in combination with the delivery of lubricoolant liquids with surface-active agents and inhibiting components of the synergistic action on the electrochemical and corrosion behavior of steel, energy costs of the process, and the protective properties of paint-and-lacquer coatings. We propose the use of galvanized brushes, which enables one to obtain Zn-protecting sites on its surface parallel with the machining of steel. This protecting sites enhance the corrosion resistance of the metal and improve the adhesive and protective properties of paint-and-lacquer coatings.
