Partial Contact of the Faces of a Slot of Variable Width in a Plate Reinforced by Stringers

We consider an elastic isotropic plate reinforced by stringers and containing a rectilinear slot of variable thickness comparable with the levels of elastic strains. We study the case where the faces of the slot are in contact over a certain segment. The problem of determination of the parameters characterizing the closure of the slot is reduced to the solution of a singular integral equation, which is used to find contact stresses and the size of the contact zone.
