Abstract

We designed and fabricated a new uniaxial pressure device for doing resistivity measurements under uniaxial pressure at a high-temperature region (300 K–800 K). This uniaxial pressure device was tested with La0.95Sr0.05MnO3 and we have measured the resistivity in the temperature region (400 K–700 K). We found the drastic variation in the John-Teller Distortion by increasing the pressure and this may be due to the increase in disorder in the structure. The disorder increases due to non-uniform variation of Mn–O bond length in the structure.
