Synthesis of New Superconducting Nb-Based 1212 Cuprates, (Nb1−x Cd x )Sr2EuCu2O8−δ

Abstract

New superconducting layered cuprates with 1212 structure have been synthesized in the (Nb1−x Cd x )Sr2EuCu2O8−δ system. X-ray powder diffraction measurements showed that almost-single phase samples were obtained in a range of 0≤x≤ 0.2. The superconducting onset transition temperature of ∼ 43 K was obtained for the sample with x=0.2. The crystal structure of this sample has a tetragonal symmetry with lattice parameters a=3.874(1) Å and c=11.629(4) Å.
