Specifics of 4He Crystal Growth in the Mode of Intensive Liquid Flow into a Container

Abstract

The growth kinetics is studied of freely growing helium crystals at temperatures 0.51 K and 0.84 K and supersaturation to ~ 15 mbar under constant helium flow into the container. The nature is clarified of the crystal growth anomaly with the negative pressure difference at the ends of the filling capillary. The pressure jump in the container, accompanying the rapid crystal growth in the burst-like growth mode, results in a non-stationary helium flow in the filling capillary.
