Abstract

The title compound N-hexyl-3,7-diformylphenothiazine has been synthesized by the well known Vilsmeier reaction, and its crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. It crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P21/c with a = 11.2291(19) Å, b = 21.114(4) Å, c = 23.004(4) Å, β = 97.736(3), V = 5404.4(16) Å3, Z = 4, C20H21NO2S, M r  = 339.44, D c  = 1.252 mg/m3, F(000) = 2160 and μ(MoKα) = 0.191 mm−1. The final R and wR are 0.0611 and 0.1492, respectively for 5,044 observed reflections with I > 2σ(I). In the structure of title compound 2, there is extensive hydrogen bonds between the H atoms and the S atoms or O atoms.

Graphical Abstract

The title compound, N-hexyl-3,7-diformylphenothiazine, has been synthesized by the well known Vilsmeier reaction, and its crystal structure was been found to behold extensive hydrogen bonds between the H atoms and the S atoms or O atoms.
