Abstract

The title complex has been synthesized by 6-(3, 5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl) picolinic acid (DPPA) in the mixed solvent of water and methanol. It crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group P-1 with a = 0.98383 (14), b = 1.08094 (18), c = 1.2774 (2) nm, α = 71.0260 (10), β = 74.5130 (10), γ = 84.350 (2)°, C22H28FeN6O8, M r  = 560.35, V = 1.2379 (3) nm3, D c  = 1.503 g/cm3, Z = 2, F(000) = 584, μ(Mo) = 0.669 mm−1, R = 0.0814 and wR = 0.1624. Structural analysis shows that the iron atom is coordinated with two oxygen atoms from the carboxyl group of the ligand together with four nitrogen atoms from the pyridine rings and pyrazole rings. The spectroscopy and electrochemical properties of the complex has also been described.

Graphical Abstract

A novel complex, Bis[6-(3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl-κN2)picolinato-κ2N,O] iron(II) tetrahydrate containing the ligand of 6-(3, 5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)picolinic acid, was obtained and its structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The spectrum and electrochemical properties of the complex have been investigated
