Abstract

Preparing high-performance Co-based absorbers with a facile approach always is a challenge. Herein, a simple method consisting of hydrothermal and reduction carbonization technique has been developed to synthesize Co/C composites. The microwave absorption properties of the Co/C composites with different glucose content were investigated. Convincing experimental results show that the microwave absorption properties of the Co/C composites can be modulated by adjusting the glucose content from 0.5 to 1.5 g. When 1 g of glucose is used, the reflection loss of the Co/C1 composite could reaches −50 dB with the thickness of just 2 mm. In particular, the efficient bandwidth (RL < −10 dB) reaches almost 0.5 GHz within the S-band (2–4 GHz) at the thickness of 5 mm. Considering the low price, facile synthesis and excellent microwave absorption properties, the Co/C composites could be used as promising absorbers.
