Synthesis and characterization of nanostructured Zn-WO3 and ZnWO4 by simple solution growth technique

Abstract

Nanometer-sized Zn-WO3 and ZnWO4 particles were prepared by solution growth techniques. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), high resolution-scanning electron microscopy (HR-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy techniques. The size and morphology of the Zn-WO3 and ZnWO4 particles can be controlled by adjusting the bath temperature. The XRD analysis revealed the formation of orthorhombic and monoclinic phase of the as-prepared and calcined nanopowder, respectively. The HR-SEM images showed the spherical and plate shape meso-structured particles. The PL spectra showed highest photoluminescence emission for ZnWO4 than the Zn-WO3 nanopowder.
