Abstract

Pr0.22Y0.78TiTaO6 ceramic prepared using the conventional solid state synthesis route is calcined at 1,175 °C and is doped with ZnO and Eu2O3. The doping has reduced the sintering temperature by 160 and 100 °C, respectively. The structure is studied using the X-ray diffraction technique, the surface morphology by scanning electron microscopy and the elemental composition by energy dispersive spectrum. Dielectric properties in the microwave frequency range are measured using the cavity resonator method. The dielectric constant, the conductance and the loss factor are measured in the radio frequency region. The UV–Visible spectrum is recorded and the band gap is calculated. Photoluminescence spectrum of the doped composites is recorded and analyzed. The compositions have good dielectric and optical properties and hence are suitable for microwave and optoelectronic applications.
