Notes
For example, on Tychistic Bohmian Mechanics, the evolution of the universal wave function is entirely deterministic, but the particle configuration jumps randomly through configuration space, see Ehmann (2020) and Dürr and Ehmann (2021). It would be interesting to know whether Nagel, focussing on the relation of states, would have regarded the particle configuration as part of the state, and thus the theory as indeterministic, or not.
In the original, Nagel employs a coin-example and talks about “getting a head”.
There is, for example, a successor of Nagelian reduction called the generalized Nagel-Schaffner model of reduction, see Dizadji-Bahmani et al. (2010).
