Fast Proton Magnetic Resonance Relaxometry Methods for Determining Viscosity and Concentration of Asphaltenes in Crude Oils

  • Published:
Journal of Applied Spectroscopy Aims and scope

We have used proton magnetic resonance relaxometry to study the dependences of the spin–lattice and spin–spin relaxation times T1,2 on viscosity and concentration of asphaltenes + resins in crude oils, in particular from the Bach Ho field (Vietsovpetro joint venture), and we have derived equations relating them. We have refined the correlation ηT1,2 = const/T. The viscosity ν = η/ρ in these crude oils is exponentially proportional to the concentration of asphaltenes + resins.
