Abstract

The magnetocaloric effect in half-metallic double perovskite Sr\(_{0.4}\)Ba\(_{1.6-x}\)Sr\(_{x}\)FeMoO\(_{6}\) (x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) was investigated. It is shown that Sr\(_{0.4}\)Ba\(_{1.6-x}\)Sr\(_{x}\)FeMoO\(_{6}\) exhibits a magnetic entropy change of 0.078 J\(\,\cdot \, \)kg\(^{-1}\,\cdot \, \)K\(^{-1}\) upon 0.2 T magnetic field variation. Through these results, polycrystalline samples of Sr\(_{0.4}\)Ba\(_{1.6-x}\)Sr\(_{x}\)FeMoO\(_{6 }\) have some potential applications for magnetic refrigerants over a wide-temperature range, including room temperature.
