Improvement of the Technique for Seismic Analysis in the Soil-Structure System of an Arched-Gravity Dam

  • Published:
Power Technology and Engineering Aims and scope

A technique that allows reliably modelling the non-reflecting properties of the boundaries of a finite element model is considered. The indicated technique has been tested on the example of a large arched-gravity concrete hydroelectric power plant. At that, the experience of VNIIG experts was used in modelling non-reflecting boundaries, determining the dynamic loads and dynamic properties, such as damping, and elastic properties of the soil-structure system. In addition, advanced techniques for modelling non-reflecting boundaries were tested and the results were compared with the techniques previously implemented at VNIIG.
