The reliability of the feed pumps of electric stations and service life depend principally on the pump vibration regime. Self-oscillation of the rotor leading to emergency shutdown of the pump has been observed in the course of several years of operation of the PN 1500-350 boiler feed pump. Two frequencies of self-excited oscillation were recorded for different modifications of the pump. Numerical calculation of the rotor dynamics is presented in order to develop methods of design that will eliminate the occurrence of self-oscillation. The results of modal analysis, the frequency response to imbalance, are nonstationary calculation of the pump rotor are discussed.
