The current status of Russian boilers for power generating units with supercritical steam pressure is discussed. It is noted that the equipment in almost all the 300 and 500 MW coal-fired generator units, in particular their boilers, have been running for more than 200 thousand hours and have low efficiencies and environmental performance, so that these units should be replaced. Gas-oil power generating units should be replaced because their energy efficiency is low compared to combined cycle (steam-gas) units. The major ways of creating competitive domestic boilers for advanced power generating units with supercritical steam parameters are pointed out.
