The Editor-in-Chief has retracted this article. After publication, concerns were raised regarding the histology and electron microscopy images presented in the figures. Specifically:
Figure 2d appears to contain some duplicated blue areas;
Figure 3d and f appear to originate from the same sample.
The authors have stated that the images were original and provided the raw data to address these concerns. However, further checks by the Publisher found additional concerns with the provided original images. The Editor-in-Chief therefore no longer has confidence in the presented data.
Manal Abdul-Hamid has stated on behalf of all co-authors that none of the authors agree to this retraction.
