Abstract
In 1990, Dr. Jean Schmittau (1937–2015) traveled to Russia to study the Davydov elementary mathematics program. Later she worked closely with Davydov to translate the program into English and oversaw an implementation of the program at a local private school. This tribute overviews her tremendous work in making the program known to so many scholars.
