Coumarin-Xanthone Derivatives with Hepatoprotective Activities from Pyrethrum tatsienense

  • Published:
Chemistry of Natural Compounds Aims and scope

A new coumarin-xanthone derivative, named 1,3-dihydroxy-2-methoxy-6′-(11′,12′-dimethylchromene-4′,5′-coumarin)-7′′-(4′′-hydroxybenzyl)-10-methylenexanthone (1), along with five known coumarin or xanthone derivatives 2–6 were isolated from Pyrethrum tatsienense (Bureau & Franch.) Ling ex C. Shih for the first time. Their structures were elucidated by their comprehensive spectroscopic data and reported references. Compounds 1–6 were evaluated for their hepatoprotective activities on human L-02 cells in vitro with Bifendatatum as the positive control. Among them, compounds 1, 2, and 6 exhibited moderate promotive effects on the proliferation of L-02 cells and certain hepatoprotective effects on CCl4-induced injury of L-02 cells.
