Catechin-O-Rhamnosides from Vaccinium vitis-idaea Stems

  • Published:
Chemistry of Natural Compounds Aims and scope

Chromatographic separation of the Me2CO extract of Vaccinium vitis-idaea L. (Ericaceae) stems isolated new catechin-O-glycosides that were identified using UV, IR, and NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry as (–)-epicatechin-3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (vacciniside D, 1), (+)-catechin-3-O-[4′′-O-(3′′′-hydroxy-3′′′-methylglutaroyl)]-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (vacciniside E, 2), and (+)-catechin-3-O-(2′′,4′′-di-O-galloyl)-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (vacciniside F, 3).
