Heterogeneously Catalysed Oxidation Reactions with P450-like Characteristics; Radical Reactions and the ‘Elusive’ Oxygen State

Abstract

We consider how transient oxygen states, which provide low energy pathways in catalytic oxidation reaction at metal surfaces involving radical chemistry, can offer a view on the mechanism and why there is a lack of experimental evidence for the active oxygen state in the P450 enzyme system.
