Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Aims and scope

The stability of steady thermal conditions of 2-ethylhexanol nitration in a laboratory unit with a centrifugal mass-transfer device was analyzed. It was found that the chemical reaction is stable during nitration of the alcohol in the 273–293 K temperature range. In the 285–295 K temperature range, the target product (2-ethylhexyl nitrate) yield reaches 92% with 99.4% purity.
