Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

A detailed study has been carried out on the characteristics of kaolins presently available in Russia in industrial amounts. The feasibility of crystallizing zeolite X from these products was studied. Zeolite X is used in adsorbents for drying and the removal of hydrogen sulfide from natural and associated petroleum gas. The crystallization of zeolite X with high crystallinity and phase purity proved possible only from P-2 and KZhV brand kaolins. A procedure was proposed for determining the reactivity of kaolins and the feasibility of synthesizing zeolite X from them by partial dissolution of metakaolins in alkaline solution.
