Development and use of fuel additives during 2006-2010

  • Analytical Review
  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Based on analysis of literature and patent information, the situation pertaining to fuel additives in the period 2006-2010 is reviewed. The major trends in additive development are shown and the main types of additives are characterized. It is noted that imported additives predominate in Russia, but thanks to indigenous developments that occurred over this period, the process of import substitution has begun, which may rid the fuel industry of its dependence on foreign supplies in the future. The demand of the Russian oil refining industry for additives required to produce fuels that meet the current standards is analyzed. The indigenous additive developments are described.
