Alkyl Naphthalenes as Lubricant and Coolant Process Materials

  • Published:
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils Aims and scope

Abstract

Higher alkyl naphthalenes based on oligomers of propylene were investigated as lubricant and coolant process materials (LCPM). Dialkyl naphthalenes from the 280–420°C fraction of oligomers reduce the pressure of the metal on the roller in the subcritical region of rolling to a greater degree than monoderivatives. Products consisting of an equal mixture of mono- and dialkyl-substitution products ensure normal rolling conditions for copper.
