At the present time we face such challenges as uniform of medical responsibility, normative implications of medical indications, the relation between medical disclosure and the patient's behaviour, medical science as the supply of services in the face of demand indicated by such supply or the scope of responsibility considering the trend towards the juridification of medical practice (liability for medical malpractice).

Wer handelt, trägt Verantwortung – sowohl für andere als auch für sich selbst. Verantwortung steigt mit dem Wissen und Können und braucht Grenzen. Zu den gegenwärtigen Herausforderungen zählen u.a. die Einheit der ärztlichen Verantwortung, die normativen Implikationen der medizinischen Indikation, das Verhältnis von Patientenaufklärung und Patientenverhalten, die Medizin als Dienstleistung angesichts angebotsinduzierter Nachfragen, die Reichweite der Verantwortung angesichts der Tendenz zur Verrechtlichung der Medizin (Arzthaftung).
