Fig. 3 Distribution of Iberian ibex populations not affected (light grey) and affected (dark grey) by sarcoptic mange at municipality scale, indicating the year(s) of the first description or initial outbreak of sarcoptic mange in each affected population. The Sarcoptes scabiei-positive cases in 2020–2021 correspond to asymptomatic males detected through a nation-wide survey coordinated by the Fundación Artemisan (https://fundacionartemisan.com) in two populations (Batuecas and Sierra Madrona) where clinical sarcoptic mange has not been reported up to date (Castillo-Contreras et al. 2022).
