Abstract

In space engineering, one of the hot topics is to extend the mobility of space exploration rovers. According to the exploration environment, the ability to select the mobility autonomously enables the rover to perform autonomous exploration missions without detailed commands from the control center on the earth. This study parameterized the physical properties of exploration conditions, movement speed, friction, and gravity in mobility. We investigated the mode transition characteristics corresponding to the physical properties of the terrain through numerical simulations and hardware experiments.
