Zusammenfassung

Hintergrund

Abstract

Background

Due to several randomized studies, any therapy concerning the renal arteries currently seems to be questionable. Surgical therapy of renal artery stenosis, although already declining due to an increased use of interventional therapy, is also included in the whirlpool of this discussion.

Objectives

Results of surgical therapy of different pathologies of the renal arteries and various operative procedures are presented.

Results

The indication for invasive treatment of renal artery stenosis is retained in cases with rapid deterioration of renal function or hypertension.

Conclusion

Especially patients who will profit from an excellent and enduring result should be treated by surgery. Interdisciplinary cooperation remains mandatory in the therapy of this disease.
