Abstract

The focus has recently switched to enhancing the safety and sustainability of chemical processes in basic and applied research, pharmaceutical manufacture, and industrial chemical manufacturing. Flow chemistry approaches have attracted a lot of attention as a way to adopt and develop chemical processes to meet the increasing demand for chemical sustainability. Emerging flow chemistry methods are discussed in this mini-review, with applications in environmentally friendly high-value chemical manufacturing and efficient screening of chemical reaction space. The demand for further research and collaboration between chemists and chemical engineers in academia and business is growing as continuous production processes are increasingly being used to reduce material and energy waste. An industrial perspective on present issues is offered to spark interest and urge greater investment in greener advanced synthetic technologies.
