Abstract

A database consisting of ambient temperatures monitored at Beer Sheva, Israel, during the time interval between August 1988 and November 2019 is analyzed. The data are analyzed on the basis of mean daily (24 h), diurnal (0600–1800), and nocturnal (1800–0600) hours. A statistical analysis is applied to the diurnal, nocturnal, and daily values for each month; mean, median, standard deviation, coefficient of variation (%), maximum, and minimum values are reported. Typical years are developed for the diurnal, nocturnal, and daily ambient temperatures, viz., mean ambient temperatures as a function of the Julian day number. In addition, an analysis is performed on the individual monthly databases in order to detect if any trends are observed during the time interval under investigation. Positive trends are detected for the months of February through September, with the exception of April, regarding the mean nocturnal and daily temperatures. In addition, only February, March, and July through September present diurnal positive trends.
