Abstract
Radial liquid velocity profiles under concurrent air–water downflow through a packed bed containing cylinders were experimentally obtained at different flow rates of both the phases. The variation in liquid velocity with radial position of the column was estimated. A simple correlation for predicting the liquid phase velocity in terms of single phase velocities of gas and liquid, and dynamic liquid saturation was proposed.
